With over six years of journalism experience, I strive to broaden my professional portfolio with stories that uphold a degree of quality, accuracy, and relevance.
I have cultivated a career in journalism for the past six years--starting in my freshman year of high school where I became part of the Hawkview newspaper staff. I fulfilled the positions of Reporter, Copy Editor, and Assistant Editor before becoming Editor-in-Chief at the start of my senior year.
During that time, I also contributed to various local media outlets like The Desert Sun, After School Magazine, and Palm Desert Patch. I covered a variety of events as a student reporter, including participating in the University of Southern California's High School Journalism Day in 2012, having my film reviews recognized by the Palm Springs Film Festival, and attending the Desert Town Hall Speaker Series for two consecutive years, where I got to interview the likes of New York Times columnist David Brooks and former U.S. General Stanley McChrystal.
I recently graduated with an AA degree in Journalism from College of the Desert, where I was Editor-in-Chief of the campus newspaper, The Chaparral. I have contributed to outlets like Coachella Valley Weekly, interviewed performers of the 2015 Stagecoach Country Music Festival, and reported on the annual Fashion Week El Paseo with fashion icon Gemma Kahng. In addition, I covered the 2016 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala Red Carpet on behalf of KCOD CoachellaFM, the College of the Desert radio station.
I also interned at the KMIR Television Station in Palm Desert, and am currently enrolled at California State University-San Bernardino to pursue my BA in Communications and Media Studies.
Writing is what I love to do and where most of my passion stems from. I am determined to take part in a career that enables me to utilize my skills and interests in a professional setting.
